Background 

Vinpearl Hotel, a renowned name in the hospitality industry, aimed to enhance their guest experience through smart lighting solutions. They reached out to us, in collaboration with our partner LK Engineering, with specific requirements, seeking a lighting controls expert who could provide a comprehensive lighting retrofit aligned with their high standards. Known for their luxurious ambiance and exceptional service, Vinpearl wanted to upgrade their lighting system to not only improve aesthetics but also to ensure energy efficiency and flexibility. Together with LK Engineering, Lumos Controls implemented a comprehensive lighting retrofit at Vinpearl Hotel locations in Phu Quoc and Can Tho, Vietnam, seamlessly blending with the high standards and sophisticated environment that Vinpearl is known for  

Objective  

Vinpearl Hotel’s primary objectives for this project were: 

• Enhance Aesthetic Appeal: Upgrade the lighting to create a visually captivating atmosphere in both guest rooms and common areas. 

• Ambiance Customization: Implement CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) controls to offer tailored lighting experiences for different settings. 

• Smart Switch Interface: Provide an intelligent switch interface that matches the hotel’s elegant décor while offering advanced control features. 

• Boost Energy Efficiency: Ensure the new lighting system is energy-efficient, reducing operational costs without compromising on the luxurious feel.

Challenges

Implementing the new smart lighting system at Vinpearl Hotel came with its own set of challenges. First, we needed to ensure that the new system integrated smoothly with the existing infrastructure without causing any disruptions. This was crucial to maintain the hotel’s day-to-day operations. Additionally, Vinpearl had specific aesthetic and functional requirements for different areas of the hotel, which meant we had to customize our solutions to meet these unique needs. Another challenge was designing a switch interface that was not only advanced in functionality but also easy for both guests and staff to use. Finally, it was essential that our installations complemented the hotel’s luxurious ambiance, maintaining the high standards Vinpearl is known for. 

Solutions

Lumos Controls addressed these challenges with the following solutions: 

• Radiar AF10: 2 channel AC powered 0-10V fixture controller with inbuilt relay 

Used Radiar AF10 for precise control over lighting intensity and color temperature, creating inviting atmospheres throughout various hotel areas. 

• L-Drive 32W: Constant Current Wattage Selectable Tunable LED Driver 

Installed L-Drive 32W to provide smooth, flicker-free dimming, enhancing the comfort and ambiance in guest rooms. This driver ensured the lighting looked natural and beautiful, in harmony with the circadian rhythm.

• Omni TED: Trailing Edge Dimmer 

Implemented Omni TED to offer versatile control for different lighting types. This made it easy to adjust chandeliers, task lights, downlights, and general lighting, perfect for various events and settings. 

• Catron AI: Wireless Switch Interface Device 

Allowed Vinpearl to maintain their preferred switch designs while adding smart functionality with Catron AI. This ensured both aesthetic and operational flexibility, making it easy for guests to control lighting according to their preferences. 

• Senor E: Beacon & Range extender 

Expanded the wireless range of the smart lighting network, ensuring reliable connectivity throughout the hotel. This device strengthened the lighting network, providing seamless coverage. 

• Enor E: Gateway With RTC, Ethernet & Astronomical Clock 

Provided seamless connectivity to the cloud, enabling remote control, configuration, and monitoring of the entire lighting system. Vinpearl used the mobile app for configuration, setup, and initial testing, while comprehensive performance reports available via the web interface helped in centralized control and enhancing energy efficiency.

Result

The lighting retrofit at Vinpearl Hotel was a resounding success. The hotel now enjoys a more visually appealing environment that enhances guest experience and satisfaction. The advanced CCT controls and smart switch interfaces have made it easier for guests and staff to manage lighting according to their needs, creating the perfect ambiance for any occasion. Additionally, the energy-efficient solutions have significantly reduced operational costs, contributing to the hotel’s sustainability goals. Vinpearl Hotel has received positive feedback from guests and staff alike, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in luxury and innovation in the hospitality industry.
