Marrow Restaurant is designed to offer more than just dining, it’s an experience that evolves throughout the day. From relaxed daytime service to a more intimate evening setting, the atmosphere needs to shift effortlessly. 

Lighting plays a key role in shaping this transition. During the day, the space needs to feel bright and welcoming. As the evening progresses, the mood becomes warmer and more refined. The goal was to create a lighting system that adapts naturally, without requiring constant manual adjustments. 

Objectives

• Create a dynamic and inviting ambiance across different zones  

• Enable quick lighting adjustments throughout the day  

• Provide simple and intuitive controls for staff  

• Ensure energy efficiency without compromising experience  

Challenges:

In a restaurant environment, lighting directly impacts how customers feel within the space. Even minor inconsistencies can affect the overall experience. Bright lighting may suit daytime dining but can feel harsh in the evening. 

At the same time, staff need to focus on service—not on managing multiple lighting controls. The system had to be responsive, reliable, and easy to operate, even during busy hours. 

Solutions

Radiar AF10 – 2 channel AC powered 0–10V fixture controller 
Radiar AF10 managed lighting across multiple zones, enabling smooth dimming and consistent control. It ensured the right balance between functionality and ambience throughout the day. 

WiSilica Enabled Room Controller (PSC-WCM-450-BLE-WS) 
This controller provided stable and centralized control for different sections, maintaining consistent lighting behaviour across dining and service areas. 

Omni TED – Trailing Edge Dimmer 
Omni TED enabled fine-tuned dimming for select fixtures, helping create softer and more comfortable lighting levels during evening hours. 

1-Button Bluetooth Mesh Wall Controller (PSC-DM-WS-100-BLE-WS) 
This simple wall controller allowed staff to trigger preset lighting scenes with a single press. It made quick adjustments easy without interrupting service. 

4-Button Bluetooth Mesh Wall Controller (PSC-DM-WS-400-BLE-WS) 
The 4-button controller added flexibility by allowing multiple scenes to be configured. Staff could switch between different lighting moods based on time of day or type of service. 

Wireless 8 Button Switch 
Provided additional flexibility for managing multiple lighting scenes across different zones within the restaurant. 

Cyrus AP – AC Powered PIR Motion & Light Sensor 
Cyrus AP sensors were used in supporting areas such as storage and back-of-house spaces. Lights turned on only when needed, ensuring smooth operations while reducing unnecessary energy usage. 

Cyrus AM – AC Powered Microwave Motion & Light Sensor 

Cyrus AM sensors were used in areas requiring wider and more sensitive motion detection. They ensured reliable lighting activation even with minimal movement, maintaining convenience and efficiency without manual intervention. 

Linear Dimming Control Module 
Enabled precise dimming control for linear fixtures, ensuring smooth lighting transitions and consistent visual comfort. 

Lighting at Catalyst Kitchen now adjusts to the rhythm of the space. The transition from daytime brightness to evening ambience feels natural. Staff can control lighting quickly without stepping away from their work.

Customers experience a space that feels consistent and comfortable at all times. Behind the scenes, the system runs quietly, supporting operations without drawing attention.
