Sutherland Capital Management

Background
Inside the offices of Sutherland Capital Management in New York City, the lighting setup needed a smarter touch. In a space that sees activity shift throughout the day, the goal was to introduce lighting that adjusts automatically, saves energy, and feels effortless to manage.
This wasn’t just about updating fixtures. It was about giving staff a space where lighting adapts to them, not the other way around. And it had to be done without adding complexity to day-to-day operations.

Objectives
- Introduce smart motion and light-responsive controls
- Provide office staff with manual control options where needed
- Reduce energy use through automation and scheduling
- Enable facility managers to oversee lighting remotely
Challenges:
No two rooms in the office are used the same way. The lighting system had to understand those differences and respond accordingly. It also had to blend into the space without making things harder for the people managing or using it. And of course, the solution had to help meet long-term energy and compliance goals.
Solutions
Every corner of the office was upgraded with care and purpose.
To start, the PSC-WCM-450-BLE-WS room controller brought reliable 0-10V dimming with built-in relay switching, perfectly suited for defined office zones. For spaces needing more flexibility, Radiar AF10 stepped in with two output channels and support for dual 0-10V dimming control.
Cyrus AP sensors, installed with both ceiling and surface mount options and paired with low-bay lenses, helped detect motion and daylight levels with precision. This allowed the system to automate lighting without wasting energy during empty hours or bright daylight.
When users needed to take control manually, PSC-DM-I-WS-100-BLE-WS provided a familiar wall-mounted switch with built-in motion sensing and dimming capability.
At the core of the entire system was Enor E, the gateway connecting it all to the cloud. With its built-in RTC and astronomical clock, lighting schedules stayed accurate, even during outages or seasonal daylight changes. Remote access and adjustments became simple for the building team.
Result
The transformation delivered what the client needed—quiet, reliable automation that improved both energy performance and user experience. Offices and meeting rooms lit up only when occupied. Natural daylight helped reduce artificial light use. And scene changes could be made without leaving a desk.
Facility managers could now oversee everything without being onsite, while the company reduced energy waste and met operational goals—all thanks to the collaboration between O’Blaney Rinker Associates and Lumos Controls.
